Managing Big Emotions During the Postpartum Period
Hormonal shifts are a significant factor in the emotional changes that many new moms experience. After childbirth, the levels of hormones like estrogen and progesterone drop suddenly, which can affect mood and emotional stability. For example, you might feel joyful one moment and tearful the next without a clear reason. These changes are inevitable in the post partum period and can be challenging to manage.

Bringing a child into the world is often depicted as one of life's most beautiful and profound experiences like in a scene in one of those Hallmark movies. However, for many mothers, the reality of childbirth can be far from the idyllic image portrayed in movies and magazines covers.

How can we do “small things often” to build our relationship?
Think of coming home from work after an awful day. Maybe you had a customer who was challenging, or a business meeting that may not have ended well. Maybe your car battery ran out and you had to travel longer in the rain, or your child was unwell all night and you haven’t slept a wink. What small things do you think would bring a smile to your face or a sigh of relief after facing such challenges?
OMG, it’s Emotion!
Acupuncturists use hands and fingertips to palpate clients and to take their pulses. As our practice deepens, our hands and fingers become ears and eyes to the client’s body. In my session with clients, when I palpate their bodies, I often receive the energy that the body is holding as visual images and/or emotions through my hands. My sensitivity is more geared toward detecting emotions that are residing in the body and how they affect the overall health of the clients.

What are Coping Tools for Students who are Experiencing Bullying?
Bullying is often intentional and targets a specific person, intentionally trying to either hurt or harm them. Bullying will often be repetitive, and it can be seen as an imbalance of power. Bullies will use force or coercion to intimidate or scare you. I often like to tell the youth that I work with a little secret…Bullies are hurting on the inside, way more than we can imagine. Often times people who hurt or cause harm to others are hurting too, and find that attacking others is a way for them to cope. It’s not a good way by any means. Bullies often see it as one of their outlets or ways to release their pain and sadness. Bullies often have so much more going on at home.
Strengthening Boundary Setting through Journaling
The word boundaries mean many things to many people. In general, though, healthy boundaries indicate healthy and authentic relationships with ourselves and others. One of the more common ways that our boundaries are crossed is when we do not appreciate ourselves. We seek this approval and appreciation from others and constantly wish that others would have more time and energy in appreciating you. One of the pillars in addressing boundary trespassers is by being made aware of what is happening. And awareness is built once we can identify and untangle the complex emotions felt when this happens. If you can identify and relate to any of the points above, consider trying to journal to identify what boundaries you want in your life and relationships.
