Play Therapy in Langley & Surrey, BC

“Enter into children’s play and you will find the place where their minds, hearts, and souls meet.”

- Virginia Axline

When you bring a child to counselling, sitting down and talking to an adult can feel a bit intimidating. Play therapy is a way to provide your child with an environment that allows them to do what they do at home. Having a trained therapist who cares about them and assures them that what they share will be kept safe, helps your child feel safe, both physically and emotionally.

Play therapy allows your child or youth to express their experiences and feelings through a variety of options like toys, games, art and other tools.

We are pleased to be offer play therapy in our office in Langley. One of the things that we also love about play therapy is that it isn’t just for young children. It can be effective for counselling for teens and adults as well.

One tool that we use is sand tray (or sandplay) therapy. Sandplay therapy is a form of free expression, where you are able to create an image or world that represents your internal thoughts and conflicts. As you or your child look at the scene before you, you are then able to process its meaning with the help of your counsellor.
