Shannon O’Keefe

MC, RCC

I am deeply interested in people and in the meaning behind their experiences. My work is guided by curiosity about how individuals and families have learned to cope, what they may be carrying beneath the surface, and what can become possible when there is space to slow down, feel supported, and be understood without judgment.

I work primarily with adults and families navigating concerns related to eating disorders, disordered eating, grief and loss, trauma, anxiety, and ongoing stress. Many of the people I work with feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve them or are carrying distress that has been present for a long time without space to be acknowledged. I aim to create a space where these experiences can be explored thoughtfully and at a pace that feels manageable.

My approach is relational and trauma‑informed, with attention to emotional regulation, nervous system support, and the ways stress and lived experience shape our internal worlds and relationships. I do not work from a one‑size‑fits‑all model. Instead, I remain responsive to the person or family in front of me, focusing on what feels most present and meaningful. I aim to be both supportive and honest in my work. While I prioritize creating a space where you feel understood, I also pay attention to patterns as they emerge and will gently name what I notice when it feels helpful. At times, this may include thoughtful challenge or reflection to support deeper understanding and movement. I approach coping patterns with care and respect, allowing understanding and change to develop through increased awareness rather than pressure.

I strive to offer a therapeutic relationship that is calm, steady, and supportive—one that balances gentleness with clarity. Through greater understanding, emotional steadiness, and self‑compassion, clients often find space for connection, growth, and a more sustainable way of living.

I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#24884) in good standing with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I have specialized training in eating disorders.

  • I’m the youngest of five, which has shaped my love of connection, humour, and lively spaces. I’m an avid tea drinker and appreciate the small rituals that help me slow down. When I have time for myself, you’ll often find me outdoors—hiking, playing baseball, or taking in a good sunset—or spending time with family and friends. I recently discovered a love of reading after getting a Kobo, which has become a meaningful way for me to embrace rest and quiet moments.
