Christy De Jaegher

REGISTERED HOLISTIC NUTRITIONIST & OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

I’m Christy De Jaegher, a Registered Holistic Nutritionist and mom of 2 energetic boys. I am passionate about all things health and nutrition, and with a background in occupational therapy and kinesiology, I offer a unique and holistic approach to help you address your health concerns and optimize your health and wellness.

I am experienced in helping clients with a wide range of health concerns, however, my primary areas of interest and speciality are mental health and disordered eating, which are often related. The connection between the foods we eat (or don’t eat) and our mood, emotions, cognition and overall mental health is significant, and greatly undervalued. Learning to have a healthy relationship with food and prioritize eating in a way that nourishes the body with essential nutrients and sustained energy is critical when it comes to mental health and overcoming disordered eating habits. Our gut is increasingly being referred to as our second brain and is responsible for producing many of the neurotransmitters (including over 95% of the serotonin) that directly impact our mood. The foods we consume (along with lifestyle factors such as stress, sleep and exercise) largely determine the health of our gut microbiome. Unfortunately, how we fuel our body is often an overlooked piece of the puzzle when it comes to mental health. My mission is to help you to solve this puzzle and feel like yourself again, from the inside out.

I have an Advanced Diploma in Holistic Nutrition and am Registered as a Holistic Nutrition Practitioner with the Canadian Association of Integrative Nutrition. I also have an undergraduate degree in Human Kinetics, a Master degree in Occupational Therapy, and am registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia. I have been working as an Occupational Therapist with adults with chronic pain, musculoskeletal injuries, depression, anxiety, and PTSD for the past 12 years. With a lifelong passion for health, nutrition, and fitness, I finally pursued my dream of becoming a Holistic Nutritionist in 2020. In merging my expertise in nutrition and occupational therapy, I am able to provide a truly holistic approach to help my clients see meaningful changes in their health.

  • Through evidence-based diet and lifestyle changes and supplement recommendations, I specialize in helping adults with the following:

    • Mental wellness

    • Emotional/binge eating

    • Depressed/low mood

    • High stress/worry

    • Anxiety

    • Disordered eating habits

    • Low energy

    • Poor sleep

    • Irregular eating habits

    • Chronic dieting

    • Unhealthy relationship with food

I am also experienced in helping clients with other health rerated concerns such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, insulin resistance/diabetes, peri-menopause, fertility, PCOS, gas/bloating, constipation, sustainable weight loss, and vegan/vegetarian diets.

  • With a background in occupational therapy, my approach is uniquely holistic and targeted at lifestyle changes that are meaningful and easy to sustain. Nutritionally, my focus in on the use of whole foods to restore balance in the body. I do not promote any one “diet” or way of eating. I look into potential nutritional, hormonal and gut imbalances contributing to your symptoms, and make evidence-based diet, supplement and lifestyle recommendations that address the root cause. Together we develop a roadmap to address your specific health concerns and reach your health and wellness goals in a way that is straightforward, sustainable, and fits with your lifestyle.

Both services are often covered by extended benefit plans (please check with your insurer to be certain).

  • I live in South Surrey, British Columbia with my family. In my spare time I enjoy playing soccer, jogging, paddle-boarding, spending time outdoors with my kids, and experimenting in my kitchen.
